TERRITORIES INITIATIVE
A new strategy for integrated territorial development
Since 2016, HUMANA and ECAM have been working on building strategies, models and mechanisms for management and territorial governance, with a focus on development. As a result of this experience and the partnership between a new business model and a third sector organization, the Territories Initiative emerged.
The objective of the Territories Initiative is to build strategies for territorial development that are inclusive and people-centered; that has a multidimensional and integrated character; that intersectorality and shared governance be emphasized in it. To this end, supporting the structuring of territories based on strengthening the capacities of local actors is essential.
The model presents itself as an efficient and innovative solution, since it proposes that all actors in the same territory unite around a vision of common future and agenda, build or strengthen the necessary capacities, and implement actions for the integrated development of short, medium and long term, generating autonomy and sustainability.
How we operate
The Territories Initiative is made up of 6 fronts, focused on strengthening local actors and developing the territory:
- Agreements, diagnoses and mapping of local and external actors
- Institutional strengthening of associations and leadership training.
- Territorial Management (including Management Plans and Financial Mechanisms).
- Support for Public Policies for development.
- Digital inclusion and community communication.
- Support for Economic Development and structuring of socio-biodiversity production chains.
